At one point in the popular South Korean drama series Squid Game, players had to cross a dangerous glass bridge with some panels made of normal glass and some panels made of tempered glass.
But they only had to cross that bridge by jumping over the tempered glass panels. Now which panel is made of tempered glass it was up to each player to find out with their own understanding and luck.
Seeing them playing that dangerous game reminded us that we have also experienced the same thing twice in China. The only difference was that those players were brought there to play a dangerous game while we voluntarily went there just for the sake of adventure.
Humans usually do such adventures with their friends. The first time we also accomplished this feat with some of our dear friends, but the second time our parents took us there forcibly.
Before proceeding, let us tell you that more than 2500 glass bridges have been built in China for adventure enthusiasts. These bridges are very popular among tourists and millions of people visit them every day.
Well, these bridges are quite strong, but some dangerous accidents have happened on them in the past. 5 months ago, a city in China named Pian of Longjing. A dangerous incident also happened on the glass bridge on the mountain. Some of the panels of the bridge were broken by a sudden strong wind while a Chinese man was on the bridge.
The man clung to his panel on the bridge for several hours before being pulled out with the help of firefighters, police and forest officials. Apart from this, due to accidents on 2 different bridges in 2017 and 2019. 2 people also lost their livesŪ
We didn’t know about these events when we first visited the glass bridge on a mountain near Beijing. Our Sudanese friend came through this bridge along with some of his friends. We were excited to go to the bridge when we saw the pictures of it.
He also questioned why he didn’t tell us before he left. He promised to take us to this bridge the very next weekend. We invited 3 more friends to join us.
On the appointed day we reached the mountain on which the bridge was built through a tour company. Then the one whose name was Leva started to climb the mountain calling his name. Met a Bengali couple on the way.
She also had a healthy 3-year-old child with her. Some of us touched his cheeks by mistake, then the parents held the child to us and went away happily holding each other’s hands.
We kept looking at each other. Couldn’t even leave the child and told his parents to ‘Take care of your child yourself!’ They were hesitating even while saying. Compulsively, everyone took turns and reached the bridge while carrying the child in their turn.
In the middle, one of our friends kept teasing us all while watching this couple to see how much fun they were having while chatting.
On reaching the top we first caught the couple holding their baby. Before he could say anything we all covered our ears and moved on. A ticket counter was built before the bridge. The ticket was 20 yuan. After buying the tickets we were given cloth covers to put on our shoes.
Covering our shoes, we moved forward and saw the bridge for which we had woken up early that morning and climbed a mountain to reach it. At that moment the bells of fear started ringing inside us and we started cursing the clock when we had stubbornly refused to come there.
Seeing us scared, our Sudanese friend stepped forward. He said, Behold, death is true. What to live in fear. If your death is written here, it will come here. Do not be afraid and come. We looked at him suspiciously and said, “We are not afraid of death, but we are certainly afraid of such a death.”
Then we thought that we came here with so much passion to walk on this bridge. Now what is the use of fear? Just close your eyes and take a step forward. When we opened our eyes after some time, we were on the bridge. Looking down, a chasm was visible across the thick layer of glass.
We immediately turned our eyes to the people in front who were smiling and taking pictures of themselves in different ways. We also quickly took some pictures with our friends and walked across the bridge to the other side.
There was a platform made of glass on one side. After crossing the bridge, everyone was going there. We also went there. By then, our fear had subsided to some extent. There we again took many pictures and mentioned Allah very well.
When we came back home, we sent those pictures to our house and they were happy as if we had completed our degree. The following year, when our parents came to China, we took them on a tour of this bridge on their special request.
Although our planned trip did not include a visit to this bridge. We, playing the role of a responsible daughter, were taking them only to places where they would not have to do much physical labor and which were also safe for them.
They followed our schedule for a few days, but then asked when to go to that bridge. We asked on which bridge? He said on the glass bridge. We asked in surprise, do you want to go there? He said that is why they have come to China. We had to book a tour for them.
Our Sudanese friend accompanied us on this trip to keep an eye on them. This time we went by cable car to the point on the mountain where the bridge was. That cable car goes up a little above the bridge. We all then had to descend a little to the bridge.
We were surprised to see the enthusiastic attitude of our parents on this trip. They were not so happy going to the Great Wall of China as they were getting on this bridge.
They crossed the bridge from one side to the other several times and then as they used to forcefully bring us back home from the park as children, we had to bring them back home from this bridge.
Perhaps the reason behind sending us back to China was their desire to visit this bridge again. Due to the global epidemic of Corona, that desire is still unfulfilled. If China opens its borders to tourists in the near future, we will certainly fulfill their wish.
