1. Karga Buddha (Yakhni)
There is a village called Napura in the south-west of Gilgit, just a few kilometres away from Gilgit city. Along with this village, the mountain range of Wadi Kargah is spread.
On one of these hills, there is a statue of a woman, this statue is about 30 feet high from the ground. This sculpture was made in ancient times. This also shows that there were once Buddhists living in this area. This statue is called Yachhni in the local language.
A folk tale related to this statue is famous in Gilgit.
It is said that Yachhni was alive in ancient times. He belonged to the race of Devas. According to some traditions, she was the sister of Shri Badat, a cruel, man-eating Raja of Gilgit.
Yachhni was also very cruel and cannibalistic. With the passage of time, these stories are now found in stories as this statue is installed on the hill which has now become a tourist point.
Now a park has been built here for tourists and national international tourists visit and people of Gilgit visit this place with their families on Eid. The centuries-old Buddha on the hill is a holy place for foreign tourists who come here to pray.
2. Karga Nala
In summer, the people of Gilgit, fed up with the heat, visit the Karga Nala to enjoy the cool water of the Nala along with the cool winds and come back after sitting there.
Kargah Nala attracts tourists due to its cool breezes, tourists get lost in the noise of the waterfall and cool breezes, Jannat Nazir this place captivates the visitors.
Kargah Nala, located 4 km from Gilgit, is a masterpiece of nature’s beautiful scenery. There is a freshwater waterfall at the entry point of Kargah Nala, which tourists get lost in its beauty and take selfies. Citizens who suffer from heat and loadshedding turn here and spend their days.
3. Guru Juglot
Guru Jaglot is located half an hour away from Gilgit. On Eid and holidays people of Gilgit go to Jaglot. This area is famous for trout fish and Chip Shop (country pizza). A large number of local tourists along with tourists often visit Guru Jaglot.
4. Taj Mughal Shikari
On the conquest of Gilgit, Taj Mughal built a monument on the southern hills about 1000 feet above the present Jotyal. This 700-year-old historical monument was in a dilapidated condition and now after restoration it has been made a tourist track.
A large number of citizens of Gilgit are often present here to see and walk along the track and the beauty of Gilgit city, tourists can also visit this track to see the city of Gilgit.
The monument measures approximately 22 x 15 feet. It has been vandalised by treasure hunters but still has been restored as a nice attraction around Gilgit city.
5. Karakoram University Track
The track was built by the Gilgit Development Authority not long ago on the hill adjacent to the Karakoram International University, this track is located on the mountain ranges of the Hindu Kush. The beautiful view of Gilgit city is visible.
This track built on the hill has become the centre of attention especially for the citizens of Gilgit as such track was introduced for the first time in Gilgit city. Especially on holidays and Eid there is a rush of families and people come here to enjoy.
